What does SFC mean in VETERINARY

The Society for Cryobiology is an international organization of scientists and health professionals dedicated to furthering research into all aspects related to cryopreservation - a process that preserves cells, tissues and organs at low temperatures. It also supports education and collaboration between scientists in the field of cryobiology.

The primary goal of the Society for Cryobiology is to promote communication among scientists concerning advances in cryopreservation and applications of cryopreservation. This includes providing access to state-of-the-art technology, developing new approaches to use frozen materials, encouraging collaboration with other branches of science, disseminating knowledge on ethical issues surrounding life sciences research, and engaging students in cryobiology research.

Membership in the Society for Cryobiology is open to individuals who have made significant contributions to academic or industrial research in one or more areas related to cryopreservation. Members come from various fields such as bioengineering, biochemistry, cell biology, clinical science, donor procurement organizations and tissue banking facilities, engineering, genetics and reproductive medicine.

Membership applications can be accessed on the website under membership tab. All applicants must provide evidence that they have made significant contributions to advancements in cryopreservation by completing a questionnaire which is then reviewed by the society’s Board of Directors.

The society hosts conferences every two years where leading experts present their latest findings related to cryopreservation techniques and application as well as workshops throughout the year focused on specific topics within this field. Additionally there are webinars available online featuring lectures from current members on topics including stem cells therapy, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

The society publishes three journals; “CryoLetters” which provides up-to-date information on advances in freezing biotechnology; “Cryoabstracts” containing abstracts from major conferences in all branches relevant to freezing biotechnology; and “Cryosurgery Reports” which summarizes articles relating to surgery using frozen technologies published from other sources worldwide. Additionally there are several books produced by member organizations compiled into one volume detailing current techniques used in different areas such as cardiac surgery or bone regeneration therapies so that researchers can access them quickly when researching a particular topic.

To get involved with research projects, members may collaborate either directly or indirectly with other scientific organisations who conduct cold storage systems experiments or studies involving human subjects testing products developed through these experiments or studies.
