SDYO is a powerful collective of some of the most talented young musicians in San Diego County. Students range from elementary school all the way up through high school and college levels who are dedicated to pushing themselves as musicians. The San Diego Youth Orchestra (SDYO) is open to musicians in grades 4-12 who are preparing for a professional career in music and are highly motivated to reach their highest potential. All applicants must audition to be accepted into the orchestra.

You don't need previous experience playing in an orchestra but you do need knowledge of your instrument at an intermediate or advanced level. All applicants must successfully pass an audition process before being offered a seat in any of our ensembles.
