What does SCDT mean in THEATER

SCDT provides training in the fundamentals of ballet, contemporary and modern dance styles. Through rigorous technique classes, repetitions, drill work and conditioning exercises, our dancers are trained to become highly skilled performers as well as educated dancers with an understanding of the art form.

SCDT’s primary focus is to provide high-quality ballet and contemporary performances that entertain, educate and inspire audiences. We also have educational outreach programs to engage children and families with the performing arts while maintaining a professional roster of experienced dancers who perform all across South Carolina.

Yes! SCDT offers a variety of avenues for aspiring dancers to get involved. Our Performance Ensemble gives pre-professional and young adult dancers the opportunity to refine their techniques in various dance styles while performing at local events throughout the year. We also host audition workshops that give eager students a chance to showcase their talents for potential future roles in our company or as part of our Performance Ensemble.

Yes! SCDT offers several levels of instruction for children ages 3–18 years old in a fun learning environment. Our classes range from basic introduction courses all the way up to advanced technique classes. We also offer summer camps for students looking to further develop their love of dance and explore new styles.

Yes! Our Advanced Academy Program is designed for serious pre-professional ballet students ages 11–18 years old looking to take their skillset to the highest level possible. This program includes five days per week of intensive classes led by some of the finest instructors in the area, plus occasional master classes taught by guest artists from around the country.
