What does SBIT mean in STUDENTS

SBIT stands for Student Behavioral Intervention Team. It is an interdisciplinary group of professionals working together to address and manage behaviors of students from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities.

Participants can include teachers, school administrators, counselors, parents/caregivers, special educators or other school personnel who work collectively towards developing a plan of support for each student to ensure access to the curriculum in a safe and healthy environment.

The main objective of an SBIT is to modify any unproductive behavior exhibited by a student in order to help them succeed both academically and socially. This includes developing strategies such as positive reinforcement and providing different resources that can aid the student's progress.

By addressing inappropriate behaviors early on, it helps prevent more serious behavior issues from occurring later down the line which can negatively impact a student's education. Through its interventions, students can obtain their academic and social goals through increased confidence and motivation levels as well as improved self-esteem levels.
