What does RU mean in MEDICAL

RU stands for Repertorium Universale, a large-scale inventory of legal authorities used by German and Dutch courts to make decisions on cases.

The Repertorium Universale includes sources such as Roman law, imperial statutes, municipal ordinances and medieval commentary from around the 14th century. It also takes into account Germanic customary law and local administrative regulations.

The Repertorium Universale was developed by German scholars in the early 17th century who sought to categorize various forms of law that had been applied throughout Europe into one comprehensive source. The first publication of the book was in 1636.

The Repertorium Universale provided judges with an organized reference point that incorporated all relevant material into one place. This enabled them to quickly locate applicable laws and ensure speedy trial proceedings.

Over time, many regional and local governments have begun using their own compilations of laws and jurisprudence instead of relying solely on the Respetorum Universallce. In modern times, the original Respetorum Universalle still remains an important source for determining law in Germany and other parts of Europe.
