ACADY stands for Academic Year. An academic year is a period of time into which a school divides the calendar year for purposes of billing, planning, and record-keeping. Generally it consists of two semesters or quarters that span three quarters of the calendar year, with the holidays and breaks in between taken into account in the scheduling process.

The structure of an academic year provides students with greater continuity in their education by dividing their studies into manageable chunks as well as providing students and faculty with much needed rest and relaxation throughout the years. Additionally, having a fixed schedule allows for improved long-term planning for all involved parties by providing everyone with a common timeframe to work from when designing course offerings or researching opportunities outside of the classroom setting.
