What does RM mean in ENGINEERING

Reliability and Maintenance (RM) is the process of ensuring that a product or service operates properly and continues to do so through regular maintenance and repairs when necessary.

RM is an important part of any successful business, providing customers with quality products and services that meet their expectations. By taking proactive steps to maintain a product's reliability, businesses can reduce customer dissatisfaction as well as repair costs associated with faulty products.

The frequency of RM activities depends on the type of product or service involved. In general, however, it's advised to inspect equipment at least once every 365 days in order to identify potential issues before they become major problems.

Common RM activities include inspecting equipment for damage or malfunction, making sure all components are working correctly, testing systems regularly, replacing parts as needed, updating software, cleaning/lubricating parts as required, documenting changes in system performance over time, etc.

Generally speaking, it's best practice for different departments within your organization to get involved in RM processes — depending on the size of your business this could include IT personnel, engineers/operations staff, customer service professionals/end users, etc.
