What does RLA mean in OCCUPATION & POSITIONS

An RLA provides consultation services to support students in meeting their academic and personal goals, educates residents on policies and procedures related to their housing and residence, serves as a resource for student organizations in the residence halls and is available to respond to emergencies.

RLAs work with individual student cases, community conflicts, and issues that arise in the hallways. They are also trained in handling safety concerns that may arise within the residence halls including identifying signs of mental health issues among residents, responding appropriately to crisis situations, and intervening when community standards have been violated.

Depending on the school's residential life system, each resident may be assigned an RLA directly or have access to a general number where they can reach an RLA. Contact information will typically be provided at move-in or online through your campus's website.
