What does RFN mean in BRITISH MEDICINE

A Registered Fever Nurse (RFN) is a professional designation earned by nurses who have obtained specialized knowledge and skills in clinical nursing related to the diagnosis and management of fever symptoms.

An RFN participates actively in the development, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive fever care plans. They provide advice to patients regarding treatment options, monitor their progress during treatment, assist them with questions or concerns they may have about their condition, and perform physical exams as well as other diagnostic procedures when necessary.

To become an RFN, one must successfully complete certain competency assessments including demonstrating proficiency in nursing practice related to fever care. The applicant must also have a valid nursing license from a recognized governing body.

Duties of an RFN include providing evidence-based guidance on diagnosis and management strategies for fevers; performing physical assessments; providing patient education about self-care strategies for managing fevers; prescribing medications when necessary; monitoring patients' progress; and consulting with other healthcare professionals on complex cases as needed.

Organizations such as hospitals, private clinics, ambulatory care centers, home health agencies, long-term care facilities, research labs or any other place where individuals may be afflicted with fevers may employ an RFN.
