Goal & Mission

The goal of RFIA is to work toward a world where everyone can have sex without shame or fear; where maternal mortality is unacceptable; where no one has to choose between reproductive autonomy and economic survival; where abortion is respected as a basic healthcare option; and ultimately where people have the knowledge, power, freedom and resources needed to decide whether, when and how they will parent or become pregnant. To reach this goal they are committed to engaging on multiple levels including local communities through direct service organizations such as abortion funds, community health centers, clinics providing contraception counseling and other related services. They also engage at the policy level through collaborating with legislators in supporting policies that realize reproductive justice goals such as increasing access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare and passing laws that prohibit discrimination against pregnant workers.
