What does ABCP mean in BOTANY

The African Blackwood Conservation Project (ABCP) is an initiative created to help protect and sustainably manage the unique African blackwood species. It encourages collaborative initiatives to monitor, conserve, and restore this important tree species, which sustains numerous industries and livelihoods in Africa.

The main goal of the ABCP is to ensure that any activities relating to the use of African blackwood are sustainable and do not lead to its overexploitation or destruction. This includes improved forest management, regulation, monitoring, capacity building, outreach activities, and more.

There are a number of different ways you can get involved with ABCP’s efforts. You can support existing initiatives through donations, volunteer your time on conservation projects in Africa or research activities at home, become an ambassador for our cause by spreading awareness about sustainable forest management practices, or join our team as a field researcher or project manager.

Since its inception in 2015, ABCP has made great strides towards fulfilling its mission of conserving and sustainably managing African blackwood species.
