Healthcare professionals are expected to remain neutral while at work regarding matters such as politics/religion/sexuality etc.. It is advisable not discuss such matters while at work unless directly relevant and appropriate within clinical activity - doing otherwise could bring into question your professionalism as well as potential put yourself at risk legally wise if something was misconstrued from what you have said by either a colleague or patient.

Whilst many conversations between colleagues cover off-duty activities such as holidays/family life etc., it is important not become overly involved in them particularly if your duties require concentration such as during surgery etc.. Otherwise this could potentially constitute as part of your overall performance appraisal which ultimately could reflect negatively on you if misconstrued by supervisors.
