What does PSRF mean in FUNDS

The Puget Sound Restoration Fund (PSRF) is a nonprofit organization that works to promote and conserve the health of Puget Sound and its watershed through restoration, education, and research.

PSRF works with local communities, government agencies, tribes, landowners, and scientists on projects that are designed to restore degraded sections of the waterway or improve water quality by reducing pollutants. In addition to its field work, PSRF also provides public outreach and educational programs on ways individuals can help reduce pollution in the Puget Sound region.

PSRF conducts scientific research examining various aspects of the Puget's ecosystem from mapping nearshore habitats to assessing fish populations throughout the sound. This data can be used by many different stakeholders for managing recreation use or understanding how climate change impacts wildlife in the area.

The Puget Sound Restoration Fund was established in 1999 as part of an effort led by Governor Gary Locke to protect Washington's most treasured natural resource-the Salish Sea-which includes both Puget's sound and other nearby waterways connected by straits between Vancouver Island Canada and mainland Washington State.

There are several ways you can support the mission of Puget Sound Restoration Fund. You can volunteer your time on a project in your community or attend one of our educational events about restoring the Salish Sea. You can also become a member or make a donation directly towards their conservation efforts.
