What does PRSB mean in UNCLASSIFIED

The Professional Records Standards Body sets out standards and guidance on the use of records in healthcare. It gives advice on the data collection and sharing processes, ensuring that patient information is accurately stored and shared between relevant healthcare organisations in a secure manner.

The PRSB consists of an independent panel who are responsible for determining and maintaining records standards.

The PRSB works with stakeholders such as professionals, providers, educators, patient representative groups and technology organisations to review current national policies, strategies, laws and regulations to ensure they are effective in maintaining record standards across healthcare services.

Using PRSB guidelines ensures that all healthcare organisations have access to consistent records, can comply with key legislation such as GDPR, adhere to best practice when storing data securely, use standardised language throughout cross-organisational collaborations, identify gaps or risks within record systems that need addressing or updatingand share records safely among professionals involved in care delivery.

A review process takes place every two years where stakeholders assess how well current standards are being followed by health services as well as any changes that need to be made or new guidelines put in place at a national level.
