What does POCC mean in CANCER

Power Over Cervical Cancer (POCC) is an international public health campaign launched in 2010 with the goal of preventing and reducing the burden of cervical cancer worldwide.

POCC promotes initiatives focused on empowering individuals to take ownership for their health, such as increasing access to early detection tests, promoting HPV vaccines, advocating for policy changes and strategies related to prevention and treatment, building capacity among health professionals, and engaging in communication campaigns.

There are many ways to get involved with POCC. You can become a volunteer or donate money or time locally or through one of our partners. You can also advocate for your local government to implement policies that increase access and uptake of HPV vaccines, screenings and treatments. No, currently POCC operates mainly in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia though it hopes to expand its outreach over time to other countries as resources permit.
