The course stretches 10 miles and begins at Arlington National Cemetery before winding its way through historic landmarks such as the Tidal Basin, Pentagon City Mall, Iwo Jima Memorial Park, , Haines Point/East Potomac Park, Lincoln Memorial Circle, Watergate Complex, Kennedy Center Plaza, Georgetown Waterfront Park and finishes near RFK Stadium in Washington DC's Navy Yard neighborhood.

The annual Army Ten-Miler takes place on a Sunday every October with a variety of race divisions including Active Duty Military (Male/Female/ Wheelchair), Reserve Components/DoD Civilians (Male/Female), USA Masters (40+/50+), Open Teams (Coed/Corporate), Veteran Teams (VFW Male/Female) as well as three youth races held within it - two 2-mile events (ages 11-14 & 15-18) as well as a 1 mile fun run for children aged 10 or younger. Awards are given out in each age division based on overall category winners as well as several other categories such as best military team performance or beating personal goals or records.
