The acronym PLZ is made up of the three letters P-L-Z, representing the words “please”. It acts as an abbreviated way to ask politely for something from someone else. The popularity of this Internet-based shorthand originated in Japan during the 1990s with the emergence of the first mobile phone services. This new form of communication was known as SMS (Short Message Service) and would soon become widely used around the world.
