History

The Cardinals were originally established as a team in Chicago in 1920 and were then known as the Morgan Athletic Club, soon becoming known by their abbreviated name of Card-Pitt, adopted from both cities' baseball teams which had merged to form the Pittsburgh Pirates at that time. In 1922, they changed their name to Racine Legion after moving to Racine, Wisconsin, and in 1925 they acquired their current name after relocating again, this time to Chicago's Normal Park.

In 1960 they moved to St. Louis, Missouri where they remained until 1987 when they relocated yet again to Arizona and became known as the Phoenix Cardinals until changing their name once more to what we know them by today - The Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals currently play their home games at State Farm Stadium in Glendale Arizona which opened in 2006 with an initial seating capacity of 63,400 people but has since been expanded up to 72,200 people.
