What does ATE mean in EDUCATIONAL

Advanced Technological Education (ATE) is a national initiative that focuses on the education of technicians for the high-technology fields that drive our nation's economy. It is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and administered by their Division of Undergraduate Education. The program consists of projects that serve two-year colleges, High Schools, and industry partners in order to strengthen technician education and enhance student learning.

The ATE programs support a wide variety of activities, such as research, development, curriculum development/revision, professional development for faculty and staff, equipment acquisition, program evaluation/assessment, and improvements to instruction.

The ATE Program funds projects using competitive grants that are awarded on an annual basis. These grants can cover up to 5 years of work with funding amounts varying from year to year depending on budget allotment.

Applications must be submitted by eligible U.S institutions such as two-year colleges, universities, community colleges or high schools who partner with employers or other organizations in order to promote technological education at the precollege level or technical education at the postsecondary level.
