What does ASSP mean in STUDENTS

ASSUP stands for Associate Students of Seattle Pacific. It's the official student government that was created to foster student engagement and provide students with representation and advocacy.

Any full-time Seattle Pacific University student who is enrolled in at least 12 credits for the academic year is eligible to participate in ASSUP activities, events, and initiatives.

ASSUP provides students with oversight and representation through its various committees. These committees host events, allocate funds for student organizations, and serve as an advocate on behalf of the SPU community.

There are many ways to get involved with ASSUP! You can join one of our committees or apply for one of our officer positions. Additionally, you can attend our general meetings to stay up to date on what's happening in the organization!

General meetings are held every other Wednesday at 5 p.m., while committee meetings happen each week on Tuesday evenings at 5 p.m.. All meeting information will be posted online each semester prior to the start of classes.

Organizations looking for funding must submit a grant request with specific information regarding their event/initiative via our grant application form which is available on our website. The Finance Committee will review grant requests based on set criteria and make recommendations accordingly.

We have an informal dress code policy whereby we ask that all participants adhere to business casual attire, such as slacks/skirts and collared shirts/blouses or nice tops - no jeans or sneakers please! For more formal events such as banquets, dressier attire may be requested so it is important to keep an eye out for any updates posted on our website ahead of time!

Being part of this organization gives you leadership experience and personal growth opportunities through working closely with your peers across campus, as well as access to workshops and trainings provided by different departments within SPU (such as Ropes Course). You also gain insight into how decisions at SPU are made while developing strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and furthering your commitment towards social change within a larger collective context.
