What does OKF mean in UNCLASSIFIED

Open Knowledge Finland (OKF) is a non-profit organization founded in 2011 to promote open knowledge, open source and open data. It is part of the larger international open movement, which encourages global citizens to share data and pursue projects collaboratively. OKF seeks to make information available to everyone allowing for more collaborative and transparent decision-making around the world.

OKF works with organizations, individuals, businesses, governments, and other entities to exchange ideas, develop strategies for success, and promote the sharing of resources globally. We offer consulting services on how to make use of open knowledge practices such as open data initiatives and open source tools. Additionally, we host meetups and workshops to discuss current topics related to these topics in an informal manner.

There are multiple ways people can get involved with OKF! You could attend our events or join one of our project groups – either as a volunteer or working independently on related tasks (such as developing software or writing blogs). Additionally you can help spread awareness by engaging in conversations with your peers about what OKF does or even become a member yourself!

At OKF our goal is to create an environment where members come together for collaborative projects that promote the usage of open knowledge principles from both technical and social perspectives. Our project list is constantly growing – currently we have initiatives such as our Connected Cities project (which focuses on sustainability & innovation) and various software development projects like our EazyRDF platform (which offers tools for creating linked data).
