What does ASNO mean in SOCIETIES

The Asian Society for Neuro Oncology (ASNO) is a nonprofit international organization of physicians, scientists, and healthcare workers dedicated to improving the care of neuro-oncology patients around the world. It provides a platform to bring together the latest scientific knowledge for neuro-oncologists and to promote professional development in the field of neuro-oncology.

Brain tumors can be classified by grade based on how quickly they grow or spread. Grade 1 tumors tend to be slow growing while grade 4 tumors are more aggressive in nature.

Treatment options for brain cancer depend upon numerous factors including the size and location of the tumor, symptoms experienced, age and medical history of the patient. Generally speaking treatment options may include radiation therapy, surgery or chemotherapy depending on what is most suitable in each case.

Radiation therapy is typically used when there are still remaining tumor cells present after surgery or chemotherapy has been administered to completely remove a tumor from a patient's body if possible. In other cases it may be used to reduce pain from metastatic lesions (secondary growths). This type of therapy involves using high doses of x-rays that target specific areas within the body during a course over several weeks or months depending on the needs.
