Across Borders is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing global understanding and opportunity for cultural exchange. We are an international student program that works with young people from around the world to help them explore different cultures and learn about their own.
What does Across Borders offer?
Across Borders provides cross-cultural exchange programs for young people between the ages of 14-21, connecting them with local counterparts in host countries, creating educational experiences and providing cultural immersion. Our programs focus on STEM, Arts & Social Entrepreneurship, Humanitarianism & Civic Engagement as well as Sports & Adventure.
Who can participate in Across Borders?
Anyone between the ages of 14-21 years old who has an interest in exploring a new culture can participate in our global exchange program. Our participants come from a variety of backgrounds, interests and nationalities.
How will my experience be structured?
Before departure our students are provided with detailed information about their host country including language information, safety advice and cultural guidelines as well as a breakdown of their individualized program schedule. Upon arrival there are orientation sessions to further prepare participants for success abroad. During the program our staff provide resources and support throughout the duration abroad such as 24/7 emergency contact information, ongoing assessment and evaluation as well as facilitation of communication platforms such as email or social media updates while traveling abroad.
What locations do you work in?
Across Border currently operates programs in 16 countries across 4 continents including India, Italy, Thailand China and Brazil among many others! Locations vary year-to-year based on demand from both our host partners as well as by our members who wish to visit certain destinations.
What types of activities are included in your programs?
Our programs consist of four main components; Language training/immersion, Community service projects, Cultural exploration activities & Global dialogue seminars facilitated by expert guest speakers from around the world. Depending on which program you choose these activities will vary greatly allowing participants to enjoy all that each unique location has to offer!
