What does OFA mean in AWARDS & MEDALS

The Outstanding Faculty Awards (OFA) is an annual merit-based award recognizing distinguished faculty members for their efforts in teaching, research, service and creative activity. This prestigious award seeks to recognize individuals who have gone above and beyond to bring excellence to their roles as educators in higher education.

Any full-time faculty member at a college or university that has been employed for at least one full academic year at an accredited institution may be eligible for the OFA. Eligible candidates must have a proven record of excellence in teaching, research, or service in higher education.

Nominations for the OFA can come from either internal sources such as students, colleagues, administrators, or external sources such as alumni or outside organizations. All nominations must be made using the official nomination form found on the OFA website.

The deadline to submit your nomination form is typically mid-January each year and can be found on the award's website. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Notification about selection results usually occur after all applications are reviewed by a panel of experts and by March 1st of each year. If your application is successful you will receive an invitation letter in the mail along with further instructions regarding attendance at an upcoming ceremony event.

During this ceremony event there will be a series of talks and presentations from both current faculty members who have won previously and those who are being recognised this year. Following this will take place awards being distributed to each recipient followed by a celebratory dinner reception that same evening.
