What does ODSP mean in DISABILITY

ODSP provides income support, health benefits, and employment supports to eligible Ontarians who have disabilities. Income support includes basic needs allowances and shelter allowances to help pay for costs like food and rent. Health benefits include drug coverage, vision care, and medical supplies coverage. Employment supports include job coaching, education programs and other services designed to help people with disabilities find suitable employment.

To be eligible for ODSP, an individual must be at least 18 years old and have a disability that significantly limits their ability to work or take part in training or educational activities. Individuals must also meet certain financial criteria, including income levels and asset limits.

Applications can be made online through ServiceOntario's website or by visiting your local Social Assistance office. Applicants will need to provide documentation such as a proof of identity document, proof of residence documents and verification of disability status before their applications can be processed.

Processing times may vary depending on the complexity of each case but generally takes between two weeks up to one month from the date the application was submitted.
