What does NTCA mean in ASSOCIATIONS

The National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) is a professional trade organization made up of tile installers, contractors and other industry professionals across the United States. It strives to advance professionalism in the tile industry through certification and education programs, technical standards, and standing as an advocate on legislative issues related to the tile industry.

Members of the NTCA enjoy access to exclusive resources like proprietary training materials, educational seminars, webinars, and conferences. Additionally, members may obtain discounts on supplies and services from various vendors. Lastly, membership entitles you to representation by a unified voice for legislation and regulation affecting all areas of the tile installation industry.

Any business or individual that installs or works with hard surface matrials for interior or exterior applications can apply for membership with NTCA. This includes individual contractors, suppliers, manufacturers' representatives, allied tradespeople such as architects and designers, educators such as instructors from trade schools or universities; and even manufacturers themselves!

To become an NTCA Certified Installer you must complete both written and installation knowledge tests conducted by our Certification Committee. You also need to have at least five years of verifiable field experience in ceramic/porcelain tile or stone installations as well as successfully passing a field test evaluating your craftsmanship skills. To join NTCA there is an annual fee depending on if you are applying as an individual member or business member (for more information see https://tile-assn/membership). To obtain certification there is also a testing fee associated which varies based on whether you need just written testing materials, written & installation exams administered together or just an oral exam administered separately.

No licensing is required to join NTCA - anyone working within any area of the tile industry can become a member! However licensing requirements vary state by state so please consult your local governing body if you wish to work within those parameters too!

Yes - many states require specific continuing education requirements related but not limited to topics such as safety measures when installing tiles in indoor/outdoor spaces etc). If attendance at one of our scheduled events qualifies under local state laws we will provide documentation upon request noting hours accrued towards completion of continuing education requirements (please contact us directly if needed).
