What does ASER mean in SOCIETIES

The American Society of Enhanced Recovery (ASER) is a multidisciplinary organization dedicated to advancing strategies and techniques to optimize patient outcomes through enhanced recovery before, during, and after surgery. We work closely with healthcare providers and medical centers to identify best practices in order to reduce costs, improve quality of care, and increase patient safety.

ASER provides a range of services designed to support healthcare providers looking for ways to reduce surgical uncertainty, enhance patient outcomes, and optimize resources. These services include evidence-based clinical data analyses, educational programming, research initiatives, webinars, conferences and much more.

All those involved in providing healthcare for patients undergoing surgery or other procedures likely stand to gain from enhanced recovery initiatives; including surgeons, anesthesiologists/CRNAs, nurses, physical therapists/occupational therapists as well as administrators at the facility level. Institutions that are able to implement evidence-based enhanced recovery pathways can benefit from improved outcomes as well as reduced costs associated with surgery.

There are many ways you can get involved with ASER whether it be through our membership program which offers benefits such as discounted registration fees for two national conferences per year or through participation in one of our committees or taskforces which seek health care practitioners’ advice on critical issues related to the society’s mission. Additionally you may volunteer at one of our conferences or become a mentor for junior staff members looking to make a difference within their institution. No matter what level of involvement you choose there are plenty of opportunities!

Yes! Members who attend our annual conference are eligible for CME credit upon successful completion of conference evaluation survey forms at the end of each session day. We also offer CE credits online via our member portal where members have access to educational videos on various topics related to enhanced recovery. Finally we offer monthly webinar series which qualify attendees for self-reported CE credit equivalent hours depending on their state laws.

Membership dues vary depending on the type chosen but typically range from $50 - $100 per year for individual members whose practice is limited exclusively in certain areas – such as physicians or nurses – up to $500 per year if your institutional budget covers multiple individuals within an entire institution who partake in any type of activity contributing towards improved performance utilizing ER processes.. We even offer free student membership available upon submission of proof studio enrollment!

Our signature international scientific meeting takes place annually featuring sessions on innovations in ER principles across all major surgical specialties while nationally we host regular webinars covering topics such as post-operative nutrition optimization and opioid sparing techniques among many others.
