What does NEDA mean in DEVELOPMENT

What is NEDA?

NEDA is the National Economic Development Authority and it was created in 1967 by then-President Ferdinand Marcos. The goal of this agency is to promote economic growth in the Philippines, focusing primarily on reducing poverty levels, improving access to resources across social classes, increasing employment opportunities for Filipinos, and providing better infrastructure for Filipino citizens. The main objectives of this agency are to provide sustainability through increased investments in human capital and industry sectors; facilitate trade negotiations between countries; coordinate national plans; oversee public-private partnerships; develop strategies for budget formulation; and monitor macroeconomic performance indicators like inflation rates, GDP growth rate, external payments balance etc.

The head of the agency is currently Secretary General Ernesto Pernia who has held his post since 2016. He works hand-in-hand with other members of his cabinet to ensure that all developmental projects adhere to proper guidelines and meet their objectives within a given timeline or budget.

Importance in Community

NEDA plays an important role within Filipino communities as it provides policies which can help shape how certain areas are managed outside of politics or state interventions.
