What does NCII mean in COMMERCE

The Native Commerce Infrastructure Initiative (NCII) is a collaborative effort between public, private, tribes and foundations that seeks to create a more sustainable and equitable economy for Native Nations. Through NCII, we are working to “close the digital divide” by investing in infrastructure and access to technology that allows economic development opportunities for Indigenous communities.

NCII will help facilitate Indigenous workspaces with modern technologies such as cloud computing, mobile applications, cybersecurity protocols, and other digital tools. This will allow our nations to better take advantage of global developments in technology and be able to compete on an international level while remaining rooted in their traditional ways of life.

NCII seeks to build a multi-year platform for sustainable economic growth in partnership with many different stakeholders including tribal governments, corporate partners, non-profit organizations, financial institutions, universities and others. Our projects aim to improve broadband access, strengthen data privacy protections, increase finance access through small business loans & grants, expand training opportunities for Indigenous youth entrepreneurs and provide much needed support services for rural businesses.

We welcome involvement from any organization or individual wishing to join us in advancing the goals of the initiative. You can join us in our efforts by volunteering your time or expertise if you have relevant knowledge or experience; donating funds or resources; forming partnerships with other organizations; or advocating for greater investment into the infrastructure needs in Indigenous communities.

Donations come in all shapes and sizes! We accept monetary donations from individuals or organizations as well as computer equipment/technology resources such as laptops/desktops/servers/etc., office furniture & supplies such as filing cabinets & desks/chairs/etc., professional services such as marketing assistance/expert advisorships & more! All donations are tax deductible.

Funding for this initiative includes individuals; federal agencies; corporate and foundation partners; universities; philanthropic organizations; state entities; tribal nations & other nonprofits—all working together towards our shared mission of closing the digital divide among Indigenous communities.

One of our core focuses is creating an environment where young people from vulnerable demographics have access to information they need when starting up their own businesses—including capital investments & support services during startup phases of operations like accounting guidance & business coaching services that we provide through our network partners to ensure sustainability and longevity even beyond first year milestones!

We strive to ensure security & confidentiality by strictly adhering to industry standards like the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Additionally we employ an array of cyber security protocols—such as well-vetted mobile apps w/ built-in encryption capabilities—while also offering virtual private networks (VPNs) & firewalls during online transactions for further assurance that all sensitive data remains secure throughout its lifetime in transit from one point another.
