History of NCFC

Norwich City Football Club was established in 1902 by local businessmen John Bowman and Louis Roeder. Originally known as 'The Citizens', the team spent their first season playing friendly matches against other local clubs as they built up strength and experience. In 1905, they joined the Norfolk & Suffolk league, before moving up to the Southern Amateur League two years later and eventually gaining promotion to Division Three South of The Football League in 1920.

In 1972, Norwich gained promotion to the top tier for the first time in their history and subsequently competed in Europe for the very first time three years later. Since then, they have enjoyed spells in all four divisions and have participated regularly in numerous European competitions including the UEFA Cup, now called Europa League. They also currently hold a record attendance at Carrow Road that stands at 35,000 people - making them one of England’s largest clubs when it comes to attendances too!

Popularity

Over recent years, NCFC has risen to national prominence due to its strong performances on both domestic and international stages. As such, they have gained a large fanbase both domestically - with over 8 million viewers tuning-in each week - and internationally - with over 28 million followers on social media from across six continents! Their success has seen them appear on TV shows such as Top Gear (2014) when James May drove around Carrow Road Stadium in a Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale ahead of their 5-1 victory against Manchester City plus appearances on hit BBC sitcom Miranda (2013) where star Miranda Hart showed her support by donning ‘Canaries’ colours prior to their 2-2 draw against Liverpool FC that year!
