What does ARTP mean in TECHNOLOGY

The Applied Research and Technology Program (ARTP) is a research program designed to promote the application of technology in the creation of new products and services. It provides resources to organizations interested in applying innovative technologies to their operations, processes, or products. ARTP projects are interdisciplinary, collaborative initiatives that bring together government agencies, industry representatives, nonprofit organizations, universities and research institutions.

The program operates on a three-stage approach which includes planning, execution and review stages. During the planning stage organizations assess the resources needed for finishing their project as well as their timeline for completion. Once a plan has been prepared project teams can start work on execution of the project with technical guidance from experts at relevant partner organizations. Finally upon completion of the project teams submit reports which are reviewed by government agencies or other organizations to assess its impact on society.

ARTP supports initiatives that involve innovation for technology development, product development through engineering applications, process improvement through improved cost structure or quality assurance, transfer and adaptation of existing technology solutions to new areas of application or old problems that need rethinking through new technological solutions, knowledge sharing endeavors and more holistic strategic management using big data analytics.

Funding comes from sources such as government grants, private sector sponsorships and donations from non-profit foundations. The funding model allows for different scales of investments into various projects depending on their complexity levels and potential impact on society.

ARTP was established in 2020 by an alliance between several public sector entities including governmental agencies such as Department of Science & Technology (DST) and Department of Information & Communications Technology (DICT). Private sector organizations have also contributed financing resources & expertise in order to develop this initiative into what it is today - a hub for leveraging innovations from around the world with an eye toward creating positive social impacts within developing countries.

Organizations who wish to obtain funding for their project must first submit an expression-of-interest form detailing their proposed project idea. These submissions are then evaluated by program staff who make recommendations based on criteria such as feasibility, potential impact and sustainability plans among other areas before funds are disbursed according to a pre-determined budget allocation strategy.
