What does MVB mean in VOLLEYBALL

The basic rules of men's volleyball involve two teams trying to score points by grounding the ball on the other team's court. Each team can only contact the ball three times consecutively before sending it back over the net. There are many technicalities involved with this game such as double hits, serves, and setting restrictions.

A point is scored when one team is unable to pass or return the ball correctly after three tries. The first team to reach 21 or 25 points (depending on what was decided before) wins the set and the match is won with two out of three sets won by either side.

There are six standard positions in men's volleyball which include setter, opposite hitter, outside hitter, middle blocker, defensive specialist, and libero (a defensive specialist who may not attack).

The standard men's volleyball court has dimensions of 9 meters by 18 meters with a net height of 2.43 meters at each end extending across the width of the court.

Men's volleyball originated in 1895 as part of a demonstration event during an international summer sports competition in Massachusetts known as The Industrial Athletic League Games. It was then adopted as part of an official national tournament by YMCAs throughout America.
