What does MUSA mean in SOCCER

MUSA is the Madison United Soccer Association. It is a volunteer-run youth soccer program that serves over 3,500 children in the Greater Madison area and beyond. Our mission is to develop more players through our commitment to excellent coaching, development, and creating a supportive environment where all players can reach their goals.

The MUSA season typically runs from August through late October or early November. This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, our season has been split into two separate seasons—one starting in August and one beginning in March 2021.

We offer recreational soccer programs for children ages 4-18 years old. Our competitive teams range from Under 9 through Under 19 (U9 - U19).

Fees vary depending on program and team level; however, there are generally no fees associated with recreational programs and reduced fees are available for those who qualify for financial assistance. No prior experience is necessary; we accept players of all levels! Our recreational teams are designed so that all participants learn essential skills while having fun in a relaxed atmosphere.

Yes! Uniform kits consist of one jersey, two shorts and two pairs of socks per player and are available at an additional cost when registering online prior to the start of each season. Uniforms can also be purchased at various locations around town throughout the year as well as at select events hosted by MUSA throughout the year.

All players must have cleats or sneakers as well as shin guards; these should be worn during all practices and games regardless of playing surface (e.g., grass field/turf field). In addition, goalkeepers must supply their own gloves as part of their equipment requirements.

Yes; competitive teams typically require players attending tryout sessions held annually in June prior to each season which help evaluate potential candidates’ skill sets so they may be placed on suitable teams according their abilities.
