What does MRUN mean in UNIVERSITIES

The Midwest Research University Network (MRUN) is a consortium of universities dedicated to fostering collaboration and sharing resources among its members. MRUN works to promote research, education, and engagement opportunities through joint programming, projects, and outreach initiatives.

Currently there are 19 member institutions that make up the Midwest Research University Network. They include Xavier University of Louisiana, Belmont University, Butler University, Indiana State University, Marquette University, Michigan State University, Northern Kentucky University, Ohio State University, Toledo University and more.

Through collaborative efforts between member institutions and various partnerships with other organizations and stakeholders in the community-at-large, MRUN provides a range of programs for students ranging from undergraduate to doctoral level programs in various areas such as arts & sciences; business & technology; education; engineering; health sciences & veterinary medicine; law; humanities & social sciences; mathematics & natural sciences; public policy & nonprofit organizations etc.

The mission of MRUN is to collaborate on initiatives to help grow our region's economy through research and development activities while providing educational opportunities for students in our region. In addition to fostering collaboration among our members universities by sharing resources such as grants and fellowships information or connecting faculty expertise across disciplines we also focus on supporting regional economic development initiatives related to entrepreneurship and STEM/STEAM education as well as providing leadership development opportunities for faculty and staff throughout the region

Member institutions have access to a variety of research opportunities such as faculty exchanges between universities in our region for collaborative field-based research projects or seed funding available for early career researchers in areas such as computing systems technology. Additionally all university members who participate in the Annual Joint Meeting receive access to shared presentations covering cutting edge topics ranging from new ideas in the sciences to innovations in data analysis.

Yes! We value partnerships with academia outside our members’ network including businesses or government agencies who might be interested in participating in or sponsoring any program activities that we engage with from time-to-time. Non-members may also join us at our annual meeting which is open to the public where we share knowledge about cutting edge topics across various disciplines while networking with potential partners from across the nation under one roof!

Yes - each year over $100K is awarded exclusively among member institutions for student financial aid packages ranging from tuition assistance awards to graduate fellowship programs. Faculty members within each institution are eligible as well for exchange scholarship programs offered via MRUN’s three different fund sources.

Yes - All applicants will need to submit an online application form along with supporting documents such as their transcripts or any letters of recommendation they may have available when submitting their applications. Depending on the type of scholarship selected additional materials may be requested if applicable.

No – Our student financial aid packages are open not only current but also those prospective students who anticipate enrolling into a member institution once they have been accepted into their chosen major program at one of the participating schools within our network.
