History

Alpha Industries was founded in 1951 by World War II veteran Samuel Gelber. His mission was to provide quality clothing and supplies to the United States Armed Forces and their families. He started out making bags, blankets, bedding, tents, parachutes and flight jackets which were issued to servicemen at the time of deployment. Gelber's vision led to Alpha Industries becoming one of the largest contractors for the Department of Defense in the 1950s and 1960s providing goods such as clothing, tentage systems, medical supplies and naval apparel for US soldiers all over the world.
