Properties of Areometric Filler

Areometric Filler, also known as AF, is an extruded powder product made from a mixture of alumina, silica and other clays which have been treated with an organic binder. The product has excellent flow characteristics due to its spherical shape and low specific gravity. Its particle size distribution is typically graded to provide varying levels of reinforcement depending on the application. AF can be used with most metal substrates such as aluminum or steel but it can also be applied with some plastics and composites. It offers superior adhesion to surfaces due to its high alkalinity concentration during firing process which helps create strong bonds between AF particles and surrounding substrate material.
