What does MPSI mean in UNCLASSIFIED

The goal of MPSI is to promote a lasting, peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Myanmar. It works towards achieving this through encouraging dialogue between diverse stakeholders while engaging in efforts to promote human rights, provide humanitarian assistance and strengthen democratic processes.

Stakeholders within MPSI include the governments of Myanmar as well as other countries and international organizations such as the United Nations, European Union, United States and Japan. In addition, there are several non-governmental actors involved such as civil society organizations from around the world.

Through its efforts, MPSI seeks to facilitate dialogue between those with opposing views in order to resolve disagreements peacefully. This includes providing training related to mediation or negotiation techniques, capacity building for civil society groups that are working on conflict resolution issues as well as technical support for political transition processes.

Since its formation in 2014, MPSI has supported more than 250 projects that have been implemented in various parts of Myanmar by civil society organisations addressing human rights violations, providing access to basic services such as education or health care and developing economic opportunities. It has also facilitated negotiations at multiple levels leading to agreements being reached between different parties regarding ceasefires or ceasefire monitoring missions.

International partners of MPSI are expected to provide financial support for initiatives undertaken by civil society organisations within Myanmar aimed at achieving peace and justice through dialogue-based methods such as mediation or negotiation processes. They should also share information about any developments related to potential political transitions or other important events that could influence stability within the country.
