Absolutely! Parents are key partners in the educational process and each student's academic success. We invite parents to be active participants in their student’s learning by attending school meetings, volunteering at school events, joining PTAs or School Advisory Councils, engaging in conversation about topics such as homework and study habits, extracurricular activities, or college prep courses.

Yes! The district offers foreign language classes from elementary through high school. Elementary students have the opportunity to take Spanish while middle schoolers can explore Spanish or French language studies. At the High School level, the languages offered include Spanish, French, Latin and German.

All schools have access to devices such as Chromebooks and iPads which allow teachers to utilize interactive apps that bring curriculum alive. In addition, we provide our high school students with access to software applications for design projects such as Coding Academy courses which allow them to learn coding skills needed for future careers related fields of robotics and computer science engineering.

Yes, all students must adhere to the established dress code guidelines set forth by our district board of directors. This includes clothing that is not revealing or disruptive in color or message; non-see-through material covering shoulders; tops that meet length guidelines; pants/skirt lengths above mid-thigh; no pajamas or beachwear at any time; headgear should match hair color (non-colored); no hats/bandanas/head covers worn inside buildings; shoes should be appropriate and safe for physical activity throughout the day.

Yes - The use of alcohol drugs tobacco products weapons explosives firearms fireworks or any other hazardous materials on school property before during after school hours or during any school sponsored event is strictly prohibited by state law and district policies. Any violation will result in serious disciplinary action up to expulsion as per Virginia Code Section 18 2 248 4.

Yes – The district provides mental health services including counseling assessments collaboration with community partners social emotional support interventions crisis intervention behavior support consultation behavioral monitoring family communication team meetings individualized behavior plans parent trainings case management referral services screenings wrap around services aftercare follow up visits peer supports ADHD coaching safety planning etc.

Bullying prevention is taken very seriously by our district. We have developed a comprehensive bullying prevention plan which identifies strategies practices resources policies approaches interventions education training programs staff involvement parental involvement recognition systems etc., designed to prevent incident bullying behaviors minimize disruption in classrooms disrupt any patterns that develop provide interventions etc.

Yes – The Special Education Department serves more than 1 000 infants children adolescents adults with disabilities living within our district boundaries who require specially designed instruction related services accommodations behavior modification supports orientation transitional service programs assistive technologies etc., which are intended to help them learn live and work more productively.

Enrichment programs such as advanced academics fine arts athletics junior ROTC clubs challenges camps internships workshops overload classes financial literacy community service art history music literature theatre technology outdoor leadership pipelines afterschool care etc., are offered for all grade levels depending upon availability of staff resources facilities funding etc.
