Microbiology

Microbiology refers to the study of microscopic organisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoa), the role they play in nature and the properties that make them unique from other life forms. The field seeks to understand how these microorganisms interact with each other and how they can be utilized for human benefit. Microbiology researches various diseases caused by bacteria and viruses and develops methods for their prevention or treatment; it also studies food-borne illnesses, analyzes water quality, investigates environmental toxins that may affect human health, examines cell structures under microscope to gain insights into biology etc.

Molecular Biology

Biotechnology

Biotechnology utilizes living organisms or parts thereof to create useful products or services such as drugs or industrial chemicals. It includes both traditional practices such as fermentation used in food production, as well as modern methods like genetically modified organism (GMO) technology and stem cell research. Biotechnologists use concepts from genetics along with data from molecular biology research when developing these products for use in medicine or industry. They may also apply nanotechnology principles when constructing medical devices such as surgical robots or microscopic implants used in drug delivery systems.
