The Major Lacrosse League (MLL) is a professional men’s lacrosse league composed of nine teams located throughout the United States. Six additional teams were added over the next seven years through expansion drafts or purchase agreements, bringing total membership to eleven by 2008. However, due to financial difficulties, the MLL reduced its number of franchises to eight in 2009 and then further downsized to just six before eventually settling at nine teams in 2013.
