What does APSRG mean in WASTE MANAGMENT

APSRG stands for the Associate Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group. It is a non-governmental organisation of representatives from both Houses of Parliament dedicated to advancing the sustainability and resilience of our planet's environment, natural resources, and climate. The group works closely with UK government departments to develop, promote and implement sustainable resource strategies.

APSRG supports its members as they research and identify best practices for promoting sustainable development. This includes providing information on relevant policy developments, acting as a platform for members to exchange ideas about how to address challenges in sustainable resource management, and working collaboratively with other organisations to facilitate knowledge-sharing and learning opportunities.

The membership of APSRG consists of elected representatives from both Houses of Parliament. These members meet regularly to discuss current issues related to sustainability and resource management in the UK. In addition, the group also engages with external stakeholders such as civil society organisations, academics, business leaders, as well as local government representatives.

APSRG undertakes a range of activities in order to promote the message of sustainable resource use amongst parliamentarians and wider society. This includes organising seminars, lectures and roundtables; issuing publications; engaging with academic research; facilitating discussion groups on topics related to resource sustainability; and engaging with partner organisations such as Business in the Community (BITC) and Women in Sustainability (WISE).

The Associate Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group was established in 2007 as part of an initiative by HM Treasury’s Sustainable Development Unit (SDU). Since then it has worked closely with SDU colleagues on various issues related to environmental protection and resource efficiency.

Sustainable resources are those that can be used without compromising their ability to be used again in future or damaging our environment or natural habitats. If we do not take steps now towards increasing our use of sustainable resources then this could lead us down an unsustainable path which will have dire consequences on future generations.

Individuals can play an important role in helping achieve key objectives set out by governments around promoting sustainability initiatives. This may involve making conscious decisions when purchasing products or services that are more energy efficient or using renewable resources instead where possible. Furthermore individuals can also lobby their local authorities or MPs for increased investment into green infrastructure projects.

Recently APSRG has supported a number of key actions aimed at advancing sustainable development goals including improving transparency around company reporting on carbon emissions; encouraging businesses involved in international trade agreements to reduce their deeds’ environmental impacts; calling for greater protections against illegal deforestation; encouraging decision makers at all levels move away from fossil fuels through decreasing emissions from transport sectors; researching options available around circular economy models & systems approaches towards tackling food waste.

APSRG is funded primarily through voluntary contributions made by its member companies, organisations active within the environmental sector, parliamentary staff costs associated with organizing meetings/events held by parliamentary staff employed specifically for this purpose.
