What does LFF mean in NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

Libraries For the Future (LFF) is a non-profit organization that works to ensure access and opportunity related to information technology for all through public libraries. LFF envisions a world in which all people, regardless of their age, geography, or income level, will have access to an array of services at their local public library that allows them to make responsible use of technology to transform their lives.

LFF works with public libraries and other partners to create community and development technology programs. They provide direct support such as technical assistance, grants & scholarships, advocacy resources and online professional development opportunities that allow libraries to navigate digital divide issues and implement new technologies into their systems. To increase access to persistent high quality Internet connections in rural areas they work on broadband connectivity projects by engaging policymakers from federal & state governments.

LFF works with multiple organizations in order to facilitate collaborative efforts that help large library communities achieve their goals around technology initiatives. Through these partnerships they promote equitable access to information technology for all through public libraries by supporting systemic changes in infrastructure, policies and practices within regional networks of libraries.

Professional development opportunities offered by LFF are designed with a focus on increasing an individual’s knowledge and skills related to emerging technologies, trends & best practices. These include webinars, seminars & workshops conducted at both national & regional levels on topics such as software development & programming, digital literacy instruction & data visualisation, 3D printing, mobile apps design etc.

Yes! Grants are an integral part of the organization’s ability to support the work done by public libraries throughout the country. Through its grant program, Libraries For The Future provides financial assistance as well as technical resources & guidance around emerging technologies for innovative projects undertaken by eligible institutions/organizations.

Yes! There have been several successful projects undertaken through its partnerships with various organizations over the years which improved public library services while helping bridge some of the gaps existing between various technology rich & tech poor communities across America’s regions. Some successful examples include accelerating wireless internet adoption initiatives in rural Texas communities; Open Educational Resources pilot project in Chicago Public Library System; school district wide One-to-One laptop program implemented in New Jersey etc.
