What does L&L mean in NASA

A launch begins with a rocket carrying the spacecraft, which is usually adapted from existing missile designs. It accelerates rapidly fuelled by either liquid fuel or solid fuel up to seven kilometers per second in order to achieve orbital velocity. During this process, it is essential that any potential hazards such as high winds or other external forces are avoided. Once at the desired altitude and velocity, the payload can then be released from its final stage rocket booster, allowing it to achieve its intended orbit or trajectory.

Re-entry refers to when a craft returns back down through Earth's atmosphere after it has completed its mission in space. This process involves extreme temperatures caused by air friction as well as drag forces exerted on the vehicle due to atmospheric pressure. In order for the vehicle to survive re-entry and make a safe landing, specialised materials must be used in its construction to resist the intense heat produced by atmospheric friction while providing enough structural protection against breakage due to increased stress levels caused by g-forces experienced during flight.

Landing refers to when the craft safely touches down on Earth after its journey through space. Depending on whether it was designed for Earth's surface or air landing, parachutes may be deployed for easing speed upon descent and/or cushioning impact with terrain below. Furthermore, depending on craft design there may also be a deceleration period where engines are employed for slowing down before touchdown occurs in order for a smoother transition onto land or water surfaces below.

If launches fail to take place successfully then valuable resources would have been wasted along with lost time spent preparing for them; this has implications such as missing out on scientific experiments that could have taken place if only mission objectives were achieved correctly at first attempt instead of having failed launches repeating steps already taken before success can materialise again afterwards. Likewise with landings, if these are not executed correctly then all prior work involving planning could have gone awry too resulting in various long-term detriments including loss of confidence amongst likely future sponsors wanting an assurance that successful outcomes will occur upon launching their own projects soon afterwards too - especially under tight turnaround timescales hoping that payoffs will exceed risk capacities carried out earlier in even shorter timings available given concurrent demands currently seen within industry nowadays.
