What is AARC

The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) is a non-profit organization with a mission “to advance and enhance patient care by promoting excellence in respiratory care practices worldwide”. Founded in 1968, they are now one of two major associations representing certified respiratory therapists (CRTs). In addition to setting regulations and standards of practice, they also provide educational resources such as workshops, seminars, conferences, online information sources, textbooks, journals, and research opportunities. All of these initiatives are undertaken to ensure that CRTs have access to the latest developments in the field of respiratory care.

Goals & Objectives

The main goal of AARC is to bring together professionals from all areas related to respiratory care so that they can collaborate on improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practice guidelines and other relevant resources. They continuously aim to raise awareness about advances in treatments by developing up-to-date education tools and disseminating information through various mediums like webinars and podcasts on topics such as mechanical ventilation equipment safety protocols; alternative therapies; management of Asthma; COPD; homecare procedures etc. Other objectives include providing advocacy efforts at both national and international levels which involve promoting legislative initiatives that support reimbursement for respiratory services, expanding access to essential technologies, making improvements in quality assurance programs etc.
