Kent Greyhound Rescue provides adoption services, fostering services, and general education about greyhounds as a breed. We strive to ensure that all greyhounds are provided with a loving home and the care they need.

There are several ways to help support the mission of Kent Greyhound Rescue. We greatly appreciate donations of funds or supplies like blankets/towels, food, and leashes/collars/harnesses. You can also volunteer your time at one of our events or foster a greyhound in need.

The majority of our rescued dogs come from Florida racetracks that have retired their racing careers and animal rescues across the United States. We also accept owner surrenders if space permits us to do so, but these situations are handled on an individual basis.

Absolutely! We welcome applications from anywhere in the United States; however, all adopters must be willing to travel to us here in Kent for a meet and greet before any adoption is completed.

Adopting through rescues is always best for any pet because you are helping save the life of an animal in need while ensuring it gets a safe and loving home moving forward. At KGR we go above and beyond to ensure each greyhound is placed with the right match--we specialize in learning about each dog beforehand so when we make matches they are informed decisions rather than just guess work!

All adopted dogs come spayed or neutered as well as up to date on shots and microchipped for their safety. Each dog is temperament tested prior to adoption so you know exactly what kind of personality your new family member will have! All adopters receive detailed information on training tips as well as follow up communication with our team for guidance throughout the adoption process.

Yes, there is an adoption fee associated with each dog adopted through KGR that goes towards covering operating costs like vet bills and rescue transportation expenses. The fee amount varies based on how much medical care was needed by each individual dog prior to adoption but typically ranges between $250 - $750.

Once you've finalized your adoption you'll be asked to provide excellent veterinary care for your new pup which includes yearly visits, vaccinations appropriate for their age, regular flea/tick prevention meds, and other health needs like dental cleanings or specialty diets if necessary. Additionally, we ask adopters provide basic obedience classes and positive reinforcement training methods when applicable.
