What is Jersey Valley Music Together?
What are the benefits of the Jersey Valley Music Together program?
The Music Together program encourages caregivers to deepen bonds with their child while creating lasting memories and learning through interactive play. As children learn songs and rhythms using a variety of instruments such as maracas, drums and sticks in a fun environment, they also develop their gross motor skills, become more independent and create friendships. In addition to this, music supports cognitive development by strengthening memory skills as well as problem-solving abilities.
How long does a typical class last?
Classes typically last 45 minutes per session. During this time children explore musical beats on various percussion instruments while singing traditional folk songs and playing rhythm games.
What can I expect during each class?
During each class participants are encouraged to explore new ways of making music using their voices or instruments. Songs are accompanied by creative movement activities such as clapping hands or shaking maracas, while other times adults model how to play an instrument or sing in rounds together with the group. Additionally teachers also share tips for developing musicality at home such as dancing together or singing lullabies before bedtime.
Do I have to bring any instruments to class?
No! All necessary instruments are supplied by the teacher during class time so no preparation is needed on your part - just come ready to have fun!
Can I join the program at any point during the year?
Yes! You can join anytime throughout the year depending on available spaces in the classes you are interested in attending and your schedule availability. Classes run in cycles ranging from 6-10 weeks dependent on location and pro-rated fees may apply when joining mid-cycle.
Are siblings allowed to attend classes together?
Absolutely! Siblings of all ages (from newborns up until Kindergartners) are invited to attend classes together - it's a great way for families to bond and make meaningful connections through music!
Do I need any prior knowledge in music theory for my child(ren) to participate?
Not at all! Our program is designed for everyone who loves making music - no matter what level of prior experience you may have had with music classes before! We welcome both beginner singers/players as well as those with more advanced backgrounds and provide plenty of opportunities for growth throughout our classes.
