What does JMP mean in MILITARY

Joint MILSATCOM Panel (JMP) is a panel of leaders from the U.S. Department of Defense and members of government agencies who are dedicated to the management of military satellite communications (MILSATCOM). The JMP provides guidance and direction related to planning, programming, and budgeting systems that support MILSATCOM programs.

The main goal of JMP is to provide insight into how resources are used in order to maximize the benefits derived from MILSATCOM programs. They develop comprehensive strategies for the use of satellites in military operations, provide guidance for allocating funds for those networks, monitor program performance, assess technology trends in order to determine priorities for future investment and research.

JMP includes leadership from across branches within the Department of Defense including officials from the Army, Air Force, Navy/Marine Corps, Special Operations Command (SOCOM), research laboratories and other defense agencies as well as representatives from international allies.

The JMP meets on a periodic basis throughout each year at various locations around the world where military personnel have access to their capabilities.

The primary objective in decision making by the Joint Forces Commanders in conjunction with subordinate commands is mission accomplishment through judicious allocation and maintenance of limited resources in accordance with regional security objectives supported by national policy objectives set by key stakeholders such as Congress or NATO partners.
