What Does JFF Stand For?

JFF stands for Jamaica Football Federation, which is based in Kingston, Jamaica. The federation’s main objective is to promote, organize and popularize football (soccer) in Jamaica and to bring it at par with other countries around the world. The federation also aims to develop talent within local clubs and academies as well as providing assistance for overseas clubs who wish to compete in international tournaments.

The JFF acts as an umbrella organization covering all aspects of the game, including professional league play, national teams, youth development programs, coaching courses and referee training programs. It was established in 1965 after being approved by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association). Since then it has become one of the most successful football leagues in Caribbean region.

Responsibilities Of The JFF

The JFF are responsible for managing and maintaining the national team program including developing youth players through its own academy system as well as overseeing amateur competitions throughout the country. It administers almost 30 different competitions including five senior divisions (Premier League, Premier Reserve League, Major League promoted group A-D), two women's divisions (Women's Premier Division and Women's Super League) and various youth leagues. The federation also oversees three major cup tournaments: National Senior Knockout Cup, National Under-17 Knockout Cup and National Under-19 Knockout Cup.

Alongside promoting football competitions within Jamaica, they are also responsible for fielding a men’s national team that competes internationally at both club level tournaments such as CONCACAF Champions League or CFU Club Championship and at international levels such as FIFA World Cup qualifiers or Caribbean Cup qualifiers. Clubs and players which prove themselves successfully on regional levels may even be eligible to compete in major international tournaments like Copa America or Copa Libertadores where they can put their skills against the best of the best from different nations aroundthe world!
