What does AOCB mean in BUSINESS

Unless there are any pressing matters that need immediate attention, members should save their requests for AOCB until the end of a meeting when the chairperson has asked if there are any other items of business.

If you suggest an idea or point out a concern during the discussion of any other topic in a meeting, it is best to ask permission from the chairperson if it can go on the agenda as an item under AOCB.

The time allotted for each speaker during discussion of any particular agenda item typically applies to items raised under AOCB as well. However,the chairperson may set different time limits depending on their discretion.

As with any other discussions and debates within meetings, disagreements and debates over topics under Any Other Current Business are permitted in order to reach an agreement or consensus.

All participants should adhere to respectful and appropriate behaviour regardless of whether they are discussing topics from an agenda item or Anything Other Current Business. This includes speaking calmly without interruption and listening attentively to others when they speak.

Generally speaking, inappropriate language or behaviour that would not be tolerated in any other part of the meeting is also not acceptable during discussion of Any Other Current Business.
