What does IYS mean in YOUTH

Individualized Youth Services (IYS) is a program that focuses on promoting the development of young people through tailored interventions and education. IYS helps young people navigate their individual circumstances with the support of professionals who can provide treatment, guidance, resources and mentorship.

IYS can benefit any youth between the ages of 11 -17 who may be experiencing challenging behaviors, struggling academically, or lack the necessary resources to help them succeed. IYS provides assessments to identify areas in need of improvement and develops personalized plans to meet each youth's specific needs.

The professionals at IYS recognize that every individual has unique needs and challenges in life. Through comprehensive assessments and planning sessions, they are able to determine what methods are most beneficial for each individual youth's situation. They then use those methods to create customized strategies designed to help successfully address each child's specific goals.

The services provided by IYS are tailored depending on the individual situation. Generally speaking, they provide assistance with crisis management, academic assistance/tutoring, behavioral therapy and mentorship programs. Additionally, they may also provide vocational counseling for job preparation skills and other such resources as needed.

At IYS we use a variety of different tools to measure progress throughout our program. This includes regular assessments with our staff members as well as feedback from family members or caregivers regarding how well the plan is working for their child or teen's needs. We also track objective data points such as attendance records and grades as applicable when measuring results.

We utilize a variety of evidenced-based therapies including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy (SFT) and trauma-informed care (TIC). Each approach is chosen based on what would be most effective in helping young people work through their identified challenges or areas of growth potential.

The length of time spent in an Individualized Youth Service program varies based upon the recommended services plan developed after assessment but typically ranges from one month up to a year depending upon age, level of need and resources available. However, if goals are achieved early than supportive programming could end sooner than anticipated.

Yes! There will always be ongoing follow up services available even after completion of an Individualized Youth Service Program in order to ensure that changes been implemented are sustained over time.
